Polyethylene Plastic

As one of the most commonly used consumer plastics, polyethylenes are highly versatile. Benefits of polyethylene plastics include being easy to cut and machine, excellent chemical resistance, good electrical insulating properties, minimal moisture absorption, and a low coefficient of friction. Some formulations can withstand temperatures ranging from minus 40 to over 200ºF. Common applications for polyethylene plastic are packaging, tanks, and orthopedic products.

If you’re in need of a new low-density or high-density polyethylene supplier, contact Midland Plastics today! Midland offers cost-effective polyethylene sheets, rods, and tubing for a variety of applications.

Applications
  • Packaging
  • Tanks
  • Orthopedic Products

Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW/PE)

A high molecular weight gives UHMW excellent abrasion resistance and a very low coefficient of friction. Like other polyethylenes, it also has good chemical resistance and good impact strength, with virtually no moisture absorption.

Applications
  • Conveyor Wear Strips
  • Guide Rails
  • Chute Liners
  • Truck Bed Liners
  • Industrial Doctor Blades
  • Scrapers
  • Wear Pads

High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE)

HDPE is substantially more rigid than LDPE. In thin gauges, HDPE can be vacuum and pressure formed and is an excellent material for plastic welding. It has good chemical resistance, is available in FDA-, USDA- and NSF 51-compliant formulations, and also has high impact resistance.

Applications
  • Cheese Molds
  • Milk Bottles
  • Detergent Bottles
  • Trays
  • Cutting Boards
  • Tanks

Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE)

LDPE is lightweight, highly flexible and easy to fabricate, yet strong. It is chemically resistant and has good impact strength.

Applications
  • Medical Prosthetics
  • Industrial Components
