Midland stocks large inventories of sheet, rod, tubing and profiles in a wide variety of plastic types, among them acrylic, polycarbonate, polyethylene, ABS, polypropylene, PVC, styrene, and more.

Custom Manufacturing

We produce high-quality, custom plastic component parts utilizing advanced 3-axis CNC and 5-axis CNS routing, machining and milling technologies.

We also use traditional hand processes, like heat bending, to produce high-quality fabricated parts.

Forming

Midland manufactures parts using vacuum, pressure and ridge forming technology. To ensure consistent, accurate and efficient trimming and routing of formed parts, we use robotic-like 5-axis routers to enhance our forming processes.

History

Founded in 1945 as a distributor of stock plastic shapes, Midland Plastics, Inc., headquartered in New Berlin, Wisconsin, is a privately held distributor celebrating over 75 years in business and is one of the oldest and largest plastics suppliers in the Midwest.

Our expansion into custom manufacturing and fabrication lets us serve our customers better by assisting them with all of their plastic needs, whether in CNC sawing and machining, fabrication, forming or custom extrusions.

Timeline

Throughout our rich, 75-plus-year history, Midland has stayed at the forefront of technological development and has been able to continue expanding our offerings and locations:

• 1960 – Acquired first handmade forming press, sowing the seeds of our forming operations
• 1966 – Expanded to a location in Brookfield, WI, and doubled workforce to 14
• 1968 – Obtained both a 3-station rotary forming press and a die-cutting machine
• 1974 – Opened first branch operation in Green Bay, WI
• 1978 – Purchased another 3-station rotary press—still used in today’s operations
• 1979 – Opened a 10,000 sq. ft. location in Green Bay, WI
• 1984 – Entered the digital age with our first CNC router and computer
• 1986 – Opened a sales office in Madison, WI
• 1989 – Expanded with a CNC saw
• 1994 – Broadened operations to Wausau, WI, and Rockford, IL
• 1996 – Moved headquarters to New Berlin, WI
• 2003 – Added another branch location in Davenport, IA
• 2005 – Increased manufacturing operations by adding additional CNC machining centers
• 2012 – Opened our 7th location in Des Moines, IA
• 2015 – Acquired Advanced Extrusions
• 2016 – Expanded the New Berlin facility by 40,000 sq. ft.
• 2017 – Added a dual-bed, high-production CNC routing center
   
• 2018 - Built a new 40,000 sq. ft. facility in De Pere, WI for our Green Bay Branch
• 2018 - Our Green Bay Branch moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in De Pere, WI
• 2018 - Added another CNC high-production saw in our De Pere, WI location
• 2018 - Added a CNC high-speed flatbed router in our Des Moines, IA location
   
• 2019 - Added another CNC high-performance vertical milling center in De Pere, WI
   
• 2020 - Added 2 new CNC vertical milling centers with 5-axis capabilities; 1 in New Berlin and 1 in De Pere, WI.
• 2020 - Implemented a high tech 6 axis laser arm that delivers high-accuracy measurement and inspection results for our Quality Dept in New Berlin., WI
   
• 2021 - Added another CNC high-production saw in our De Pere, WI location
• 2021- Moved our Rockford, IL Branch to South Beloit, IL to double the size and capacity.
• 2021 - Added 2 new pcs of CNC Equipment to our De Pere, WI Branch. A HAAS VF-8, 3-axis with an additional 2-axis trunnion. Also a HAAS 712 Gantry Router. 2021 - Added 2 new pcs of CNC Equipment to our Corp office in New Berlin, WI. A DMS 5-axis Router with Twin 5'x5' tables. Also a CMS 3-axis 5'x12' Tracer 200X
• 2021 - Added Haas VF4 with Automated Robotic Machine Tending in NB Machining Division Added Automated Robotic Machine Tending in GB Machining Division.
   
• 2022 - Added Haas VF4 with Automated Robotic Machine Tending in NB Machining. 10’x6’ Rotary Vacuum Former with Automated Load and Unload Capacity in Forming. 10’x8’ Drying Oven for the Forming Division Expanded downstream capacity in Extrusions.
   
• 2023 - Added a Haas ST-30Y High-Performance Turning Center in our GB Machining Division. Stay tuned as NEW High-Performance Production Machines are on their way!
